Your role

• Maintain databases (for internal use) of relevant research information from all the interviews, news, stories, data, statistics, etc. that journalists gather on a daily basis.
• Identify relevant data for mining and clean-up that will be included in the database/reports.
• Implement data collection systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and data quality.
• Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems.
• Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports.
• Identify, analyze and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets with the guidance of the News Data Analytics Heads.
• Suggest process improvement opportunities, especially on tools, software, and applications that could be used in treating the data.

About you

• Graduate of Statistics / Economics / Engineering / Math / any related field.
• High level of mathematical ability.
• Advanced skills in the use of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools.
• Prior experience in the use of data processing and data visualization tools is an advantage.
• Data mining skills.
• Strong research skills.
• Good project management skills.
• Good interpersonal skills and a team player.
• Good communication skills (written and oral) in English and Filipino.
• Attention to detail.
• Flexible, and able to work under pressure.
• Social media savvy.
